Adventures in Optical Technology
Welcome to the Lightwave Photonics Laboratory. In this lab, we are working hard to achieve the following goals.
・Human Resource Development through Optoelectronics Research
・Challenging the creation of new optical technologies
・Contributing to society through Industry-academia collaboration
We are engaged in education and research that contribute to the exploration and creation of optical technology, and to the development of the industrial infrastructure of the ICT society opened up by optics, i.e., advanced inspection and measurement technology that spans from industrial production to the field of bio-imaging. We invite you to join us in this grand and fun intellectual adventure!
The light waves of lasers and SLDs have coherence. Many optical devices make use of the coherence property, and various optical devices can be developed by controlling the wavelength and phase of light waves spatially or temporally.
In this laboratory, we are conducting various application researches focusing on the interference of light waves. In particular, we have developed new measurement and imaging techniques, including sinusoidal phase modulation, real-time profile measurement, spectral interferometry, optical tomography imaging using low-coherence interferometry, three-dimensional vibration imaging, and ultra-precision ultrahigh-speed optical comb measurement.
In addition, we aim to create advanced optical measurement and novel sensing technologies with a view to applications ranging from industrial product inspection to biological measurement and medical biotechnology fields.
We have a long history of industry-university collaboration with companies and joint research with JST, AMED-CREST, and others. Please contact us if you have any requests for joint development, academic guidance, or contract research on optical measurement technology, device development, or electronic circuit fabrication.
